About Professor Rajab Challoo
Dr. Rajab Challoo is currently professor and graduate coordinator of electrical engineering and director of EE Intelligent Systems and Controls Laboratory. He is a registered professional engineer in Texas. Dr. Challoo has teaching and research experience in electrical engineering in the field of control systems and robotics.

Teaching: Dr. Challoo has proven to be an excellent motivator of students. He has been honored by the students in EE/CS department to be the recipient of the professor of the year award four consecutive times and a merit of excellence award. He was named as an honoree for the 1993 Distinguished Teaching Award (recipient of the University Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Award). In the College of Engineering, Dr. Challoo has developed new classes and established new laboratories. He Jointly developed new proposals for new programs such as Maquiladora Masters program, Ph.D. in systems engineering program proposal and the university honors program. Dr. Challoo was recipient of an appreciation award by the university provost for support of the Distance Learning Program.

Research and Scholarship: Dr. Challoo has published extensively in the fields of Modeling, Analysis, and Design of Linear and Nonlinear Dynamic Systems/ Control Systems, Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic for Intelligent Control of Robotic Systems. He has received over $1.79 Million joint research grants from National Science Foundation (NSF), Office of Naval Research (ONR), and Department of Defense/Office of Naval Research (DOD/ONR). Dr. Challoo has served as organizer and chairman for many national and international conferences. He has also served as a reviewer for many national and international conferences and technical journals. Dr. Challoo served as Associate Director for “Developing a High Performance Computing Center Through Acquisition of a 128 Node PC Cluster for Cross-disciplinary Research and Education,” funded by National Science Foundation – Major Research Instrumentation.

Administrative Experience and Service Activities: Dr. Challoo was the founding Director of the University Honors Program. He served as Chair of the University Honors Task Force and Chair of the University Honors Council. Dr. Challoo was elected and served as President of the University Faculty Senate; President of the A&M System Faculty Council; President of the University American Association of University Professors; Senator and President-Elect/ Vice President of the University Faculty Senate, Vice President of the University American Association of University Professors, Vice President of the University Texas Faculty Association. He was also elected by the Texas State American Association of University Professors to serve as Vice-President for District III, Texas State Conference of AAUP. He served as Presiding chair of the University Graduate Council, Chair of the Executive Committee of the Graduate Council. Within the IEEE Corpus Christi section, Dr. Challoo served as Chair of the Computer Society for seven years. He has also served many times as a Judge in the Caller-Times South Texas Distinguished Scholars Program. In the department of electrical engineering and computer science, Dr. Challoo served as acting chairman and graduate coordinator. He also served as director/program coordinator for Maquiladora Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering Program. He served as chair and/or member of over 30 university/college/department committees. Dr. Challoo was also President of Innovative Technical Solutions, an engineering consulting company.
