ABOUT Associate Professor Cheng-Xian (Charlie) Lin

Dr. Lin is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Florida International University. He was the 2007 and 2008 Air Force Summer Faculty Fellow at the Air Force Research Laboratory, WPAFB. Before he joined UT, he had been the Program Manager of Modeling, Simulation, and Visualization in the Applied Research Center at Florida International University, Miami, FL, for about 10 years. In recognizing his leadership and excellence, he was awarded the Program Development Award in 2000 at FIU. Dr. Lin earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 1992. Since then, he has authored and co-authored over 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. His current research interests include Computational Fluid Dynamics, Indoor Environmental Modeling, Gas Turbine Combustion, Solar Energy Technologies, Heat Transfer in Heat Exchangers, and Micro/Nano Scale Transport Phenomena. Dr. Lin served as a panelist for National Science Foundation, and as a reviewer for numerous leading journals in his research field. Dr. Lin is an Editorial Board Member for several international journals, and is a member of ASME, AIAA, ASHRAE, and ASEE.
