ABOUT Professor Yongping Zhang

Dr Yongping Zhang is a full professor and the Dean of the School of Electronic and Information Engineering at Ningbo University of Technology, Ningbo, China. He obtained his PhD. degree in Control Science and Engineering from the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, China, in 1998, specializing in Computer vision and Pattern Recognition. He also holds a MS. degree in Mathematics. His past and present research interests include: BioMedical Image processing and analysis, Bioengineering, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Wavelet Analysis and Neural Networks. He has published more than 50 papers in the relevant fields. From 2006 to 2007, he worked as a Research Fellow with Department of Computer Science at National University of Singapore, Singapore, working in the project of medical imaging and analysis. The main works are to develop the algorithms and software for retinal image mining and the detections of Fluorescent Dots in cell images. From 2003 to 2005, he worked as a Research Scientist with Bioengineering Institute and UniServices Limited at The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand, working in the development of algorithms and software for BioMedical image processing and analysis. From 2001 to 2003, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand, working in the development of the automated identification system of microscopic pollen images in the basis of Neural Networks and Wavelets. From 1988 to 2001, he worked as a Lecturer then an Associate Professor with the Department of Mathematics at Shaanxi Normal University, Xi¡¯an, China.
