From March to December 2000, he was, on a part-time basis, with Pohang Accelerator Laboratory as an Adjunct Researcher. He, as a lecturer, taught various basic electrical engineering courses in Yeungjin College, Daegu, Korea, and undergraduate courses on electromagnetic fields and wave propagations in KNU, Daegu, Korea, respectively, from 2001 to 2006. He remained a Brain Korea 21 (BK21) Postdoctoral Research Fellow and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at KNU from March 2005 to August 2006. From September 2006 to August 2007, he held his position of Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow in Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, USA, which was jointly funded by the Korea Research Foundation and National Center for Learning and Teaching in Nanoscale Science and Engineering (NCLT). He was a Senior Research Engineer at the Research and Development Division for Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors Corporations from October 2007 to October 2008. In October 2008, he joined as an Assistant Research Professor in Department of Physics at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan. After a short period of working as a BK21 Associate Professor at KNU, he is currently working at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT), Yongin, Korea, as an R&D Staff Member.

His research interests include metamaterials, subwavelength plasmonics, nanophotonics, enhanced optical and microwave transmissions, and physics of guided and leaky waves in electromagnetic waveguiding structures, novel RF devices and systems, among many others.

He has edited two books and has authored and coauthored one book chapter and more than 70 technical journal articles and conference papers. He received Best Paper Award from IEEE Seoul Section and Korea Electromagnetic Engineering Society (presently, The Korean Institute of Electromagnetic Engineering & Science) in 2002.
