About Dr. Kingsley Omeihe

Dr. Kingsley O Omeihe is currently an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Leader of the Graduate Apprenticeship Programme. He is the co-founder and Chair of African Studies at the British Academy of Management (BAM). He also serves as Chair of the Entrepreneurship in Minority Groups at the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE). Dr. Kingsley is a former Chair of Professional Development and past council member of the British Academy of Management.

From 2006 until 2016, Dr. Kingsley held various managerial positions in Banking at Standard Bank, Access Bank, Zenith Bank and Standard Chartered Bank where he oversaw the growth of the Commercial and Private Banking Portfolio.

Dr. Kingsley has published articles, book chapters and proceedings articles in both the areas of entrepreneurship/small business management, organisational behaviour and trust. He is a fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce and fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute. He was the past Executive Administrator for the Centre for African Research on Enterprise and Economic Development (CAREED).

Dr. Kingsley was awarded in 2020 the ‘Above and beyond’ award by the Edinburgh Napier University for Outstanding Teaching. In 2020, he was nominated for the Tallberg/Eliasson Global Leadership Prize and was recognised by Bright Red Sparks as an Enterprising Educator. In 2019, he received the STAR award from the University of the West of Scotland for Outstanding Teaching. In 2018, he was recognised by the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE) as one of the “Enterprise Educators of the Year’’. In addition, in 2018, he was recognised for his truly outstanding and dedicated service by the British Academy of Management for his role on the council (2017-2018).

In 2017, the Doctoral College at the University of the West of Scotland awarded him the ‘‘Best Research Output’’ prize. In 2006, he won the Banker of the Year in Operational Efficiency at the Zenith Bank Managing Director’s Award. In 1997, he was the first student to win the ‘Best Initiative Award’ at St. Theresa’s Oke Are. In 2017, Dr. Kingsley founded the ‘Entrepreneurship Partnership Initiative’ which serves as a launch pad for promoting entrepreneurship across schools in the UK and Africa.

As an entrepreneur he is the founder and past Creative Director of Soso Fashion House. Since 2000, Dr. Kingsley has worked with, advised and consulted for small business owner managers and entrepreneurs on a variety of topics ranging from marketing to business development. He is regularly invited to speak to groups of doctoral students on topics focused on research methodology and the doctoral journey. He is a member of the Cross-party Group on International Development at the Scottish Parliament and co-Lead, Entrepreneurship Cluster at the International Centre for Management and Governance Research.

Dr. Kingsley received his PhD from the University of the West of Scotland’s School of Business and Creative Industries, with a major in entrepreneurship/small business management and development economics. He received his MBA from the University of Aberdeen, his diploma in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge and his BSc in Economics from the Lagos State University.
